Charlie Wilson

President

Charles “Charlie” T. Wilson, III, became President of CT Wilson Construction Company in 2016, continuing the legacy of the family-owned business. His journey in construction began at an early age, working summers in the field as a laborer and gaining firsthand experience in the industry.

After earning his undergraduate degree from North Carolina State University in 1993, Charlie obtained his Engineer-in-Training (EIT) certification. He went on to complete a Master’s degree at the University of Texas at Austin, where he also worked for a general contractor specializing in healthcare facilities. In 1999, he officially joined CT Wilson Construction in a full-time capacity.

As President and third-generation owner, Charlie focuses on new client acquisition while building and sustaining strong relationships with existing clients. His leadership reflects a deep commitment to the company’s founding principle of community service—an approach that extends beyond the firm and into his broader industry involvement.

Charlie has served at every level of the Board for the Carolinas Associated General Contractors (CAGC), including as Chair, culminating in his role as Immediate Past Chair in 2024. He currently serves on the Council on Women in Construction Committee, the AIA/NC CAGC Joint Committee, the Membership Committee, the NC Bar Association/CAGC Joint Committee, the NC State Construction/UNC System/CAGC Joint Committee, and the NC Legislative Committee.

In addition to the numerous education, workforce development, environmental conservation, housing insecurity solutions providers, and historic preservation organizations that the company and Wilson family have supported since inception, Charlie has also been deeply engaged in regional civic and nonprofit leadership, including service as a past member of the Board of Directors for the North Carolina Museum of Life and Science, a member of the Real Estate Development Committee for Durham Housing for New Hope (and past Chairman of the Board), a member of the Durham Academy Board of Trustees, a Board member for Preservation North Carolina, and a past Board member for The Forest at Duke Retirement Community. Charlie is also an active member of the Construction Professionals Network. Outside of work, Charlie enjoys leading an active lifestyle, attending sporting events, and traveling.
