Affectionately known by locals as “MoJud,” the Mock Judson Mill at the corner of Hiatt St and Oakland Ave in Greensboro has recently been purchased by real estate developer, Capitol Broadcasting Co., out of Durham. What was once a hosiery production facility until 1972 and then Rolane Factory Outlet Store until 1999 is now slated to be a multi-family apartment building with luxury amenities. (See new floor plans here.) Due to the building’s historic registration (2011), Capitol Broadcasting Co. contracted historic renovation expert architect, Eddie Belk with Belk Architecture to handle this massive adaptive reuse/historic renovation project. (Click here for more information regarding the history of the mill.) The existing mill currently encompases 156,000 sf of space with a 22,000 sf addition planned. Work began in Summer 2022 and is expected to be substantially completed by December 2023.
